Message from the Principal

We’ve definitely been enjoying a little “false spring” here in Michigan! The sunshine and warmer temperatures have been a nice break, and students have loved getting outside for fresh air and movement. As we all know, Michigan weather can change quickly, so please continue to send students with layers, coats, hats, and gloves so they are comfortable during outdoor recess. We will head outside whenever conditions are safe, and being prepared helps everyone enjoy the day — no matter what the forecast decides to do!

Please be on the lookout for Parent-Teacher Conference forms coming home with your student soon. These forms allow you to select the date and time that works best for your family. We value this time to connect, celebrate student progress, and discuss goals for continued growth.

Kindly return the form as soon as possible so we can finalize the schedule. We look forward to meeting with you!

Important Message from the School Nurse

We are seeing an increased number of cases of head lice in our buildings as well as across the Southwest Michigan area.  With the number of cases increasing, please check your child’s hair frequently for nits and live bugs.  If your child is found to have head lice, please begin treatment immediately.  Head lice treatment is very time consuming and can be expensive, but if the head lice and all of the nits are not removed from the hair as well as anything that comes in contact with the hair the cycle will start over in your home.

There are resources for head lice treatment in the main office if you need assistance.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at 269-782-4420 ext. 1218 or sdorman@dowagiacschools.org.

Mrs. Schibley makes physical activity fun, inclusive, and motivating for all learners while helping build teamwork and confidence. We also appreciate her effort in bringing the American Heart Association assembly to our school. It was a great opportunity for students to learn about heart health, the importance of staying active, and making healthy choices. Thank you for supporting both the physical and overall well-being of our school community!

Given the increase in illnesses, this serves as a friendly reminder about the importance of proper handwashing.
