Message from the Principal

Wow! Michigan showed its true colors with the weather changes this week!

As the weather continues to get colder and snow is on the way, please make sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for outdoor play. Students go outside for recess whenever possible, and we want everyone to stay warm and comfortable!

Please send your child with a warm coat, hat, gloves or mittens, boots, and snow pants each day. Having the right gear allows all students to enjoy their time outside safely, even in snowy or chilly conditions.

Important Message from the School Nurse

We are seeing an increased number of cases of head lice in our buildings as well as across the Southwest Michigan area.  With the number of cases increasing, please check your child’s hair frequently for nits and live bugs.  If your child is found to have head lice, please begin treatment immediately.  Head lice treatment is very time consuming and can be expensive, but if the head lice and all of the nits are not removed from the hair as well as anything that comes in contact with the hair the cycle will start over in your home.

There are resources for head lice treatment in the main office if you need assistance.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at 269-782-4420 ext. 1218 or sdorman@dowagiacschools.org.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH

Congratulations to the Sister Lakes Student of the Month for October, Addison Wesolowski! Addison is the daughter of Joe and Amber Wesolowski. She is nine years old and a fourth grader in Mrs. Hatch’s class. Addison is an animal lover! When Addison grows up, she wants to be an author. In her free time, Addison enjoys reading, writing stories, and showing her horse. She has over 30 award ribbons!

Mrs. Hatch says:

I chose Addison as our October Student of the Month, because she is a very responsible, hard working student who excels in the classroom. Addison is kind, respectful, and very well-mannered. She is a model Chieftain Hero!

We want to recognize Mrs. Alsup for her outstanding dedication and perseverance. Even while supporting challenging students, she continues to show patience, creativity, and care each day. Her hard work and positive attitude make a real difference in her classroom and for all of her students.
