Important Message from the School Nurse |
We are seeing an increased number of cases of head lice in our buildings as well as across the Southwest Michigan area. With the number of cases increasing, please check your child’s hair frequently for nits and live bugs. If your child is found to have head lice, please begin treatment immediately. Head lice treatment is very time consuming and can be expensive, but if the head lice and all of the nits are not removed from the hair as well as anything that comes in contact with the hair the cycle will start over in your home.
There are resources for head lice treatment in the main office if you need assistance. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at 269-782-4420 ext. 1218 or sdorman@dowagiacschools.org.

Patrick Hamilton Staff Spotlight of the Month
Ms. Ortiz is Pat Ham's Staff of the Month. Ms. Ortiz is a graduate of Purdue University. Growing up, she always knew that she wanted to be a school teacher. She has taught for Dowagiac schools for the last 5 years. When she is not at school, she enjoys camping and hiking with her family. Mrs. Ortiz also loves the Chicago Cubs. Ms. Ortiz always goes above and beyond for the students in her classroom as well as the entire student body. Through her dedication and commitment to Pat Ham, she has developed our Student Council, Robotics Team and the Girls Who Code club. We are very lucky to have her as a 5th grade teacher at Patrick Hamilton and are proud to call her a Chieftain!! |
