From the Desk of the Principal

HERO Expectations: Honesty, Earning and Giving Respect, Responsibility, and Orderly and Safe! Today we focused on being Orderly and Safe! Please discuss with your child how they can not only be orderly and safe at school, but in the community as well!

Attendance: Please remember the importance of attendance; attendance matters! Keep up the great work families as we have several students who have not missed a single day of school to date. Let's work on getting perfect attendance for the whole month of September!

END OF DAY CALLS and PICK UPS: You must call the office by 3:00 p.m. to make arrangements for your student to go home a different way. This is a policy that we have had in place and unfortunately have to enforce. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

Cold Weather: Cold weather as arrived and this means we need families to start sending students to school with warm coats, hats and gloves.

Registration Papers: Please check with your students to see if they have brought home any registration papers today. We have several students who still need to have their information updated. If your student does bring one home, please make sure to update all of the information. Things like home address and contact information are imperative to maintaining contact with our families.

Building Highlights

The winners of the HERO Raffle were Hakeem T. and Paisley D. They won tickets to the varsity football game, a Chieftain sweatshirt, foam football and other prizes. Congratulations to both of our winners.

Reminders

Outside Lunches: The district does not allow outside lunches to be delivered or brought into school for the students.

Sick Children: Please call the office and report that you are keeping your child home due to illness. The Cass Van Buren Health Department requires school to report illnesses every week.

Transportation Changes: Please remember that any changes in busing transportation need to be made directly with the Transportation Department. You can reach them at 269-782-4482.

Our schools and the Dowagiac District Library have come together to encourage reading. Elementary students who attend the Adventures in Bookland Club (ages 6-8) and Inkwell Explorers Book Club (ages 9-12) will receive Hero Tickets they can use at their school's Hero Store.
