Message from the Principal

Thank You DMS, DUHS, PTO and Parent Volunteers: We would not have had such a successful PTO Winter Carnival without your help. We had many helpers before, during and after the carnival. Thanks you. Everyone had a wonderful time and I was glad that many families were able to make it!

HEARING TESTS: The Cass Van Buren Health Department will be here on February 12, 2025 to test hearing for students in Kindergarten, Second and Fourth grades.

Dowagiac Resident FOOD PANTRY: The food pantry that is held at the Catholic Church (back parking lot entrance) is open to all Dowagiac residents. It is open the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month from 10:00 - 2:00.

END OF DAY CALLS and PICK UPS: You must call the office by 3:00 p.m. to make arrangements for your student to go home a different way. This is a policy that we have had in place and unfortunately have to enforce. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

OUTSIDE RECESS: Please dress your student appropriately for the cold weather. It is our district policy to go outside for recess unless the temp is below 10 degrees w/windchill.

BUS RIDER PARENTS: Please have your student(s) at the bus stop 5-10 minutes early so that our bus drivers can stay on schedule in order for our schools to start on time. Thank you for helping.

KINDERGARTEN MEET N GREET: This event will be held on February 20, 2025 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. All incoming Kindergarten students are welcome to come and visit the kindergarten area and classrooms. Parents are encouraged to bring immunization records, birth certificates and proof of residency to get their students pre-registered for the upcoming school year. All pre-registered students will receive a goodie bag to go!! Hope to see you there.

Reminders

DRESS FOR Winter WEATHER: In case you haven't observed, Winter is here. Winter hats, gloves, boots and coats are needed. It would also be ideal if you send your little ones with snow pants.

OUTSIDE LUNCHES: The district does not allow outside lunches to be delivered to school for students.

SICK CHILD: Please call the office and report that you are keeping your child home due to illness. The Cass Van Buren Health Department requires schools to report illnesses every week.

Given the increase in illnesses, this serves as a friendly reminder about the importance of proper handwashing.
