Thank you Dowagiac Fire Department: Thank you Firefighter Iwaniuk, Kirby and Nelson for your time and efforts during your visit today. Our heroic firefighters discussed fire prevention and fire safety to our entire student body. We truly appreciate and value your partnership and all that you do!

Fun Color Dress Up Days Next Week/Show Your Support

Wed. 16th Wear Purple for Rett Awareness Month. Students will watch a video to increase their knowledge of Rett Syndrome

Thu. 17 Wear Red for Great Lakes Big Apple Crunch Day-all students in the district will receive an apple for lunch and may learn interesting facts about apples

Fri. 18th Wear pink for Dowagiac's Pink Out Game: Wear pink to support this cause and unite.

BOOK FAIR: Our book fair will open on Monday, October 21. Students will have the opportunity to shop Monday through Thursday during school hours. PARENTS are able to shop during our parent teacher conference times which are Wednesday, October 23 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 24 from 1:00-4:30 p.m. Hope to see you!!

Candy Donation and PTO Facebook Page Reminder: Help us feed our monster and donate prepackaged Halloween candy for our PTO Trick or Treat event. This popular event for our Justus Gage families will be held on Thursday, October 30th. Costumes are welcomed and encouraged for this evening event.

School Wide Incentive/Candy Donation: If we are able to donate three hundred pounds of candy by 4:00 PM on Wednesday, October 29th; each and every Justus Gage student will receive one free bag of popcorn in November. Let's work together to achieve this sweet goal!

END OF DAY CALLS and PICK UPS: You must call the office by 3:00 p.m. to make arrangements for your student to go home a different way. This is a policy that we have had in place and unfortunately have to enforce. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

Reminders

OUTSIDE LUNCHES: The district does not allow outside lunches to be delivered to school for students.

SICK CHILD: Please call the office and report that you are keeping your child home due to illness. The Cass Van Buren Health Department requires schools to report illnesses every week.

FLIP FLOPS & SANDALS: Please do not send your student to school with flip flops or sandals. Tennis shoes are best for this time of year.

You can find this guy in the office until our annual trick-or-treat night, October 30th.

Reading is Fun!

Our schools and the Dowagiac District Library have come together to encourage reading. Elementary students who attend the Adventures in Bookland Club (ages 6-8) and Inkwell Explorers Book Club (ages 9-12) will receive Hero Tickets they can use at their school's Hero Store.
