FIRE SAFETY Prevention Week: October 5th - 11th was National Fire Prevention week. Justus Gage partnered with the Dowagiac Fire Department as members of our local department facilitated grade-level specific lessons and fire safety tips. Fire Safety activity bags will be going home today for our K-4 students and all students will be receiving a Fire Fighter helmet. Fall Fundraiser: WE MET OUR GOAL!!! Justus Gage students/parents ROCK!! Thank you so much to everyone that participated. Since we surpassed our goal of raising $2,000 we have a free popcorn day to all present students on our next Popcorn Day which is Friday, October 24th.
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES: Conference slips were sent home today with your student. Look for a PINK slip of paper and return it as soon as possible so that we can accommodate your time needed. Thank you.
BOOK FAIR: Justus Gage will be having their annual fall book fair during the week of conferences. Students are allowed to purchase items from the book fair Monday - Thursday of that week. Parents may purchase items from the book fair during Parent Teacher Conferences. Reminder Parent Teacher Conferences are Wednesday, October 22 from 5:00 - 8:00 and Thursday, October 23 from 1:00 - 4:30 p.m.
Halloween PTO Candy Monster: We are accepting candy donations for our PTO JG Halloween Night. Any donations are appreciated!! Please make sure all candy donated is individually wrapped. We always have a wonderful turnout for this event!
NO POKEMoN or ANY KIND of TRADING CARDS BROUGHT TO SCHOOL!! Please remind your students that no Pokemon or any trading cards are allowed at school. Thanks for working together in keeping everyone's trading cards at home.

How do I earn this: Any student that does not receive any SWISS “Major” Referrals for the date range of September 15 - October 16, 2025 will be invited to attend.
In order to earn the opportunity to be a part of future HERO Celebrations, a student must follow the HERO expectations the entire date range without receiving any “Major” SWISS referrals.
Please support our efforts in making Justus Gage Elementary an incredible school by communicating with your student about the HERO Expectations.
ST. FRANCIS OUTREACH FOOD PANTRY: The food pantry at the Catholic Church in Dowagiac on Oak Street is open every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. No necessary papers to complete.
Dismissal Time Reminder: Please remember to park Northbound on James St., Eastbound on Wayne St. and Southbound on Oak St. when you are picking up your child. GSRP and Kindergarten parents are to use the parking lot which is accessible off of James Street and then please exit onto Wayne St. Thanks for working together in keeping everyone safe!
