Message from the Principal

Rotary Interact and National Honor Society Inductions will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024. Rotary will begin at 6 PM followed by NHS at 7 PM. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Changing the date will allow us to better support the number of individuals and athletic teams that are continuing play in postseason contests. Thank you in advance, and go Chieftains!

Weekly Highlights

Members of the Rotary Interact Club recently presented Mr. Zebell from the Dowagiac Rotary Club with a check for $400. Of this amount, $200 will be allocated to Uganda to support the final phase of a water pump system, which aims to provide fresh water to the small village of Kyoga, eliminating the need for residents to walk to the river for their water supply. The remaining $200 will be dedicated to purchasing pillows for the domestic assault shelter, as these are among the shelter's most pressing needs.

Students in Journalism class have studied various photography composition strategies, focusing on the beauty of Fall, lighting, and natural settings.

Reminders

Bus riders please ensure you arrive at the bus stop for pickup and are prepared to board the bus 5 to 10 minutes early each day. This will help the drivers maintain their schedule and adhere to the designated routes. Thank you!
Rotary Interact sponsored the Hurricane Drive for victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. All donations will go to the American Red Cross.

Technology Reminder: Parents, we need your help! Please remind your son or daughter of the DUS’ Acceptable Use Policy for Technology
- We are reminding students and parents of our Acceptable Use Policy because our filters and controls are detecting an increasing number of attempts to view inappropriate content and/or circumvent the protective measures implemented by the district. We use these systems to enhance student safety from inappropriate websites and chat groups.
- Dowagiac Union Schools reserves the right to review, monitor, and restrict information stored on or transmitted via Dowagiac Union Schools owned equipment and to investigate inappropriate use of our resources.
  In regards to media, sound, and games:
  - All photos (including desktop background) and videos must meet district acceptable use guidelines.
  - Media that violates acceptable policy (guns, weapons, pornographic materials, inappropriate language, alcohol, drug, gang related symbols , pictures, etc.) will result in disciplinary action and may also result in a loss of Chromebook privileges.
  - Music and games must serve an educational purpose and meet the acceptable use guidelines.
  - Use of media, sound, and games must be in accordance with classroom procedures.

Remember, Chromebooks are managed by Dowagiac Union Schools. Any attempt to remove or avoid the management system will result in immediate disciplinary action, including, but not limited to, confiscation of the device.
