Ms. Gils 6th grade math students are working hard on strengthening their multiplication skills. This week, they practiced multiplying whole numbers and focused on accuracy, strategies, and explaining their thinking. Building strong multiplication skills will help students as we move into more complex math concepts later in the year.
Ms. Gil’s 7th grade students are finishing up their work with decimals and fractions, using all four operations—addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Students have been practicing problem-solving strategies, checking their work for accuracy, and explaining their reasoning as they tackle multi-step problems. This unit has helped strengthen foundational skills needed for more advanced math concepts.

Mrs. Stanford - 6th Grade Social Studies
This week we have continued to review for our 7.1 Vocabulary and we took our quiz on Tuesday - check PowerSchool for updated grades. We also reviewed the physical geography of Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean Islands to gain a better understanding of the historical events that took place in this region. Students participated in a "no-reference" map activity where they were given descriptive clues to attempt to navigate and label each of the 14 countries and territories documented in our textbook. Once completed we shared with the people around us and went over the correct answers for the intention of accuracy. Lastly, we wrapped up our week by beginning to examine Ch. 7 Lesson 2 covering the history of the region, students started working on guided notes with vocab, discussing what they have read, what their thoughts are, and how these events have impacted the people and culture of the region.

The students in Mrs. Winters’s Computers B classes have been coding with Javascript to create mini animations with different types of movement and text. In her Computers A class, the students have been learning how to post safely and appropriately on social media, and how to protect themselves and their information from strangers online. Just a reminder for parents and students, any assignment for Computers can be redone to try to get a higher grade. Also, if any students in Computers B want to stay after school for coding help, they can just ask Mrs. Winters the day before they want to stay for times and availability. They can also come to her classroom before school starts for help.

Mrs. Leighton's ELA class participated in a Transition Escape Room. These students worked well in groups and broke out of the escape room the fastest. |
