Mrs. Leighton's ELA class participated in a Transition Escape Room. These students worked well in groups and broke out of the escape room the fastest. 

"Do Mummies Belong in Museums?"

 These past few weeks in Mrs. Wilson's 8th-grade ELA class, students have been diving into important topics such as text features, nonfiction, standard argumentative essays, and comma usage. The highlight of the lessons was a thought-provoking reading and analysis of a nonfiction article titled "Do Mummies Belong in Museums?" Students were tasked with annotating the article, formulating a thesis, and presenting their arguments while acknowledging and counteracting opposing viewpoints. To wrap up, students revisited the 8 basic rules for proper comma placement in their writing. Mrs. Wilson is impressed with the progress and critical thinking skills demonstrated by her students throughout these engaging ELA activities. 📚🔍✏️

DMS offers after school tutoring sessions for any DMS student that needs/wants extra support. Each session runs from 2:30 - 3:30 PM.

Transportation will not be provided for those staying. Students will need to be picked up or given permission to walk home at the end of each session. Pick-up will be in the front of the school building.
