February 12, Count Day

Roundup and Upcoming Events :

Hello DMS Families,

Wednesday, February 12th is "Count Day." We ask to please send your child to school this day to assist us with our State funding. We also have some incentives we are planning to provide students who attend school that day (e.g. Donut Breakfast, 5 pt. Extra Credit Slip and a DMS Athletic Event Pass (good for 1 game at DMS). We thank you for your support!

On behalf of the staff at DMS, we would like to extend an invitation to participate in our Annual Title I Family Engagement Night scheduled for Thursday, February 20th (5:00-7:00 pm).  Our theme is "GET A CLUE?" At this event, each child and their parent/s will work together to solve educational puzzles/problems to obtain CLUES that will lead you to solving our  "Mystery Crime" committed by someone on staff.  FYI-Special PRIZES (e.g. earbuds, Chromebooks, t-shirts, sweatshirts, books, games, etc.)  and refreshments will be provided to all in attendance. RSVP for this special night by selecting the following weblink: DMS Title I Family Night Registration.

On Friday, February 7th students who improved on their Fall to Winter NWEA tests in both Math and ELA earned some special incentives. Nearly 80% of our students met their Math or ELA Goals and nearly 60% met both. At the end of the year we will administer this assessment to students again to measure their progress.

On the court, our girls 7th and 8th grade basketball teams continue to battle. They ran into some tough competition last week but are looking forward to their next contests against area rival Bridgman Middle School (Monday, February 10th @ DMS, 4:00 pm) and Coloma Middle School (Wednesday, February 12th, Away, 5:00 pm). Keep working hard Lady Chieftains!

Our DMS Wrestling Team is eager to get back to work. Unfortunately, their tournament scheduled last week on Wednesday was cancelled due to the weather. Their next match is scheduled to take place @ Berrien Springs Middle School on Wednesday, February 12th (5:00 pm start time). Good luck Chieftains!

Finally, we want to remind everyone Winter Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on both Monday, February 24th from (4:30-7:30 pm) and Wednesday, February 26th (12:00-3:00 pm). We look forward to seeing you.

GREAT things are always happening at DMS!
