We are seeing an increased number of cases of head lice in our buildings as well as across the Southwest Michigan area. With the number of cases increasing, please check your child’s hair frequently for nits and live bugs. If your child is found to have head lice, please begin treatment immediately. Head lice treatment is very time consuming and can be expensive, but if the head lice and all of the nits are not removed from the hair as well as anything that comes in contact with the hair the cycle will start over in your home.
There are resources for head lice treatment in the main office if you need assistance. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at 269-782-4420 ext. 1218 or sdorman@dowagiacschools.org.

This week students in Mrs. Winters’s Computers A class created digital snow globes. They did this by using digital stop motion animation techniques in Google Slides to animate their winter scene and make it into a snow globe. |

Mrs. Leighton's class was helping with the door decorating contest. Students also learned about persuasive writing this past week. |
Great news! Ms. Gil’s 6th and 7th Grade Math students have officially wrapped up their Winter i-Ready assessments!
We are so proud of the focus, effort, and determination they brought to their testing this season.
In the coming days, we’ll be meeting one-on-one with each student to look at their results, celebrate their growth, and set new stretch goals for the next part of the year. Students will also be adding their stars to our colorful classroom data wall—a fun and motivating way for them to see just how far they’ve come!
Our math classes are full of hard-working, goal-crushing students, and we can’t wait to continue cheering them on as they grow. Great job, everyone!

Mrs. Stanford - 6th Grade Social Studies
This week students went on a "road trip" across the United States West of the Mississippi River. They went to three different states of their choosing and on their trips they got to visit two different physical features of that state. Students identified different geographical landforms and waterways of this region and their significance. Make sure to ask your student what the term "significant" means. It was one of our vocabulary terms this week! We took a quiz Friday covering 10 different geographical terms relating to this region. Lastly, students are still practicing their Seterra Map Skills by identifying the U.S. 50 states and will take a test on this next week as their MP2 final exam.

Miss Sierah Cook
7th Grade Life Science
Our 7th graders have been hard at work preparing their final exam shoebox dioramas, showcasing the evolution of plants and animals. Their creativity and understanding of key life science concepts are truly shining through in these detailed projects.
6th Grade STEAM
In STEAM, our 6th graders have been exploring a wide range of hands-on activities—from origami designs to festive Christmas crafts. Students have enjoyed experimenting with different materials and expressing their creativity in fun and meaningful ways.

Miss Gabrielle Cook - Social Studies
This week, our 7th graders explored both the Persian Wars and the Peloponnesian War, focusing on why these conflicts began, the major events, and how they shaped the ancient Greek world. Students also participated in a hands-on Peloponnesian War simulation, using paper “ammo” and tracking their own health points to experience what strategy and survival might have felt like during the conflict. It was an engaging blend of learning and activity, and students did a fantastic job applying what they’ve learned about ancient Greek warfare!
