Hello DMS Families,
Last week your son or daughter completed their Winter NWEA Reading assessment which is used to monitor their progress. They will begin working on their 2nd round of testing this week by taking their Winter NWEA Math test. We ask that you please remind your child to bring their Chromebooks to school fully charged for the day's.
On Monday, January 20th, DMS along with other district teaching staff, spent the day collaborating, planning and reviewing over new teaching resources/strategies to assist them with their instruction. They will make use of this information and training to meet your child's individual needs for the remainder of the year.
"Winterfest" is coming to DUS next week (1/27/25-1/30/25). Our Student Council is sponsoring "Spirit Winterfest Dress Up Days" for students to participate in. The theme this year is Music Genres and our dress up days are as follows: Monday= Pjs or a DJ Day, Tuesday=Class Colors Day, Wednesday=Genre Hair Day, Thursday=Music Genre Choice Day, Friday=Black and Orange Day.
Mark your calendars. Wednesday, February 12th is "Count Day." Sending your child to school on "Count Day", is essential for securing vital funding for our schools. The state uses attendance data from this day to determine the financial resources each school receives. By ensuring your child is present, you help support the programs, staff, and services that benefit all students throughout the year. Thank you for your help with this.
We have a few events coming up we would like for you to be aware of. Our next DMS Activities Night will be held on Friday, January 31st (4:00-6:00 pm). Also, our Annual Title I Family Engagement Night will take place on Thursday, February 20th (5:00-7:00 pm). This is a special event we hope you will be able to attend with your son or daughter. Finally, Winter Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on 2 separate days: Monday, February 24th from (4:30-7:30 pm) and Wednesday, February 26th (12:00-3:00 pm).
We also want to remind you we have After School Tutoring available to all of our students 3 days a week from 2:30-3:30: Mon, Wed, & Thurs=ELA & Math and Wed & Thurs=Social Studies. IMPORTANT: Students will need a ride home if they are staying after school to get extra help.
GREAT things are always happening at DMS!
